Indecisive Winter

No more than a week and a half ago, it was sunny and 60 degrees outside.  I spent virtually the entire weekend outdoors enjoying the unseasonably warm weather. Between riding bikes, kayaking, and walking my dog everywhere, I was convinced that spring was on its way, boy was I ever wrong. How often can one go in a T-shirt and lightweight coat in the midwest in February?  We went out on the Ohio river, hung out on the house boats with the canopy open, and let fresh air in. We took a decent trip upstream on kayaks and a SUP (Troy is pictured on the SUP) to check out a boat that was up on shore. The boat was two floors, and had the old diesel engine in it still. It was pretty cool to check out that old rust bucket, a relic of sorts in the boating world.  Fast forward no more than a week and a half, and we're now in the teens, and getting some snow.

Today, I woke up early, too early. I received an email from the office in London that for a moment, made me wish I would have just stayed in bed. It was cold, snowing, and I was basically given the message that I needed to hustle my way in and get started early  It was that moment when you think "You win Monday, you win and the day hasn't even begun yet." I jumped in and out of the shower, hastily threw some work clothes on, and made my way to work, completely dis-shoveled. Walking into the office, I felt as though I was more of a homeless man than an Executive IT Support specialist. I hurried up to the room where I needed to help get things going for a conference call, and I took a look outside.  I then realized how awesome it actually is to get a taste of multiple seasons in less than two weeks time.  The Saturday before last, we were out on the river kayaking, short sleeves when on land, and lightweight coats when on the water, and today, there were layers to keep me warm.

I did attempt to keep the little bit of positive energy in my day.  I decided as I hastily ran out of my apartment to grab my camera bag. While I was up in the office,  I saw the snow coming down and made sure to take a mental note to stop up later in the day to shoot a photo if the snow were to continue, and it did.  The snow actually picked up as the day went on, and I now found myself making the rounds, completing my work, and starring out the windows watching the snow fall.  What had started off as a pretty crummy day, was slowly but surely starting to turn around.  Be it that I didn't have my camera with my while I was completing my work, I simply took out my phone and snapped some photos with it to frame up shots to come back to later.

Then, the great news came, the snow was coming down, and it wasn't slowing down anytime soon.  They decided to close the office early.  My imagination started running a little more.  I decided that I would get the shots in the building, then take the camera out on the streets and shoot some more.   I did overlook some details, such as forgetting to grab the boots that were in my car, heavier gloves, and a pair of glasses. My eyes did a great job of catching snow while out shooting photos.  It felt great to get out and shoot, and now, I'm looking through what I've gotten, and posting some of the results.  A few of the photos are in "Cincyscape" currently, and more will be up soon!

Cheers.
